Digital Camera capture file • 12 bits per channel • 3072 x 2049 pixels Generation of Master file: Acquired file is corrected for colour and brightness range, trimmed and resampled to 3,000 pixels from top to bottom of plate. Horizontal dimension will be fixed for all plate files. File is saved as TIFF, unsharpened, RGB File derivatives are produced • MrSid is produced: • Master file is sharpened and then compressed to 20x, with ’normal’ settings in MrSID-Compress for RGB colour. • Preview & Thumbnail for database: • Master is resampled for each Sharpening is applied to each set to best suit 24 bit colour monitor display. • Files are compressed using JPG with a balance of speed and quality in mind. • “Large” and “Small” for downloading: • Large file is 700 pixels high • Small file is 350 pixels high • Images are each generated directly from the Master. • Sharpening and JPG compression are optimised for PowerPoint display. MrSid file: Placed on web-delivered database for downloading and viewing on a local MrSid viewer. • Preview & Thumbnail: • Thumbnail for fast display in search results. • Preview for verification of result. • Large & Small files: • Either file would be chosen following a search. • Large is suitable for full screen PowerPoint use • Small is suitable for up to ½ screen PowerPoint use.
