  4. Group assignment: A comparative in-depth study • A comparative in-depth study of four of the pre-task statements/questions. -> One theme/question is given to each group for further scrutiny: • Group 1. Current state of energy production and usage, sources, domestic production. • Group 2. Renewable energy sources, availability, current usage and future prospects. • Group 3. Use of energy, past, present and foreseeable future. • Group 4. What will be the main sources in the next decades?

  5. Group assignment with a Scandinavian and a Baltic point of view • Each group dwell on one of the above mentioned statements/questions from both a Scandinavian and a Baltic point of view (as a whole). • As comparison, the students study (=gather information) and add a Norwegian, Danish, Lithuanian and a Latvian perspective to their final presentation on Friday.

  6. Timetable for groupwork • Monday, April 22. • 08;30-9;30 First session, introduction. Students form their work groups. A new group work assignment given to students. Presentation of pre-tasks + discussion. • Wednesday, April 24. • 08;30-10;50 Working groups in session. Presentation of pre-tasks + discussion continues in separate groups (in separate class rooms) if not completed on Monday. • Thursday, April 25. • 08;30-12;00 Working groups in session. Group work assignment continues. • 13;00-17;00 Working groups in session. Group work assignment finalized. • Friday, April 26. • 14;30-17;00 Working groups present their reports. 15-20 minutes per group + discussion. All the groups join together when the groups present their reports.

  7. Students get 3 ECT units • By completing the following tasks: • Presentation of the pre-task during the international study week (1 ECT unit). • Taking part in the international study week in Iceland (1 ECT unit). • Handing in of 2 reports: Daily travel diary and a Scientific report on the energy issues discussed during the study week (1 ECT unit).

  8. Report 1: A Daily travel diary - impressions and reflections • - 1 page/ day. (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) • - Pictures can be included, but the text content still has to be 1 page/day. • - Reflect on your every day life during the trip. What did you learn and experience during the stay? (The energy issues will be discussed in the scientific report.) • What did you feel and think? • Did you get new ideas? • What did you learn? • Did you learn something about yourself through this experience? • Did you learn something about your group members? • How did the group work go? • Do you think everyone was treated fairly in your group?

Report 1: A Daily travel diary - impressions and reflections • Did you discover any cultural differences between the different nationalities? • Did you learn some things that you may apply in the future? • What was your highlight of the day? • Was it a rewarding day? • What was good? What could have been better? • Do you view the world differently now? • - Hand in the diary to your teacher after the intensive study week. • - Your own teacher can give you more detailed instructions.

  10. Report 2: A scientific report on the energy issues encountered during the excursions and the group work. • - 1 page/ day. (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) • - Pictures can be included, but the text content still has to be 1 page/day. • - Reflect on the excursions and group work during the visit. Write down what you experienced; you can also include hard facts. • What did you learn? • How can you make use of new information? • Did you get new ideas? • - Include (scientific) references. Cite your references with a footnote. • - Hand in the scientific report to your teacher after the intensive study week. • - Your own teacher can give you more detailed instructions.
