  2. Introduction • This webQuest is designed for second grade students learning about life cycles.

  3. Task Put on you lab coats and join us for an exciting scientific adventure!!! You are an amazing scientist and are reporting to your friends about the life cycles of butterflies and frogs. You will follow 2 links and make observations about the life cycles. You will then have to put them in order.

  4. Process • Keep these questions in mind while doing your WebQuest: • 1. How can I put the life cycles of a frog and a butterfly in order? • 2. How can I draw a picture to correctly show features of a frog and/or a butterfly? • Don’t forget your SCIENCE GOGGLEs! • S2L1. Students will investigate the life cycles of different living organisms. • S2CS5. Students will communicate scientific ideas and activities clearly. • Life cycle of a frog • All about butterflies

  5. Evaluation

  6. Conclusion Thank you so much for your help! These frogs and butterflies know what to do because of wonderful scientists like you!

  8. Introduction • This WebQuest is designed for second grade students. It would be very beneficial to the students if you were to go through it with them before they do it independently. This would help to eliminate any questions during the process. • Another good tip would be to read, The Caterpillar and the Polliwog by Jack Kent. The teacher should stop before the end of the book and have the students complete the WebQuest. They could then predict what would happen at the end of the book.

  9. Learners • This webuest is designed for a second grade special education co-taught classroom. • EQ: How can I put the life cycles of a frog and a butterfly in order? • EQ: How can I draw a picture to correctly show features of a frog and/or a butterfly?

  10. Standards • S2L1. Students will investigate the life cycles of different living organisms. • a. Determine the sequence of the life cycle of common animals in your area: a mammal such as a cat or dog or classroom pet, a bird such as a chicken, an amphibian such as a frog, and an insect such as a butterfly. • S2CS5. Students will communicate scientific ideas and activities clearly. • b. Draw pictures (grade level appropriate) that correctly portray features of the thing being described.

  11. Process • EQ’s: 1. How can I put the life cycles of a frog and a butterfly in order? • How can I draw a picture to correctly show features of a frog and/or a butterfly? • Links: Life cycle of a frog All about butterflies
