Current developments Collaboration with IT: Pilot test of Speech Recognition software Pilot test of Remedy Interactive software Workers Helping Workers Collaboration with Facilities Designing and fabricating furniture improvements Material handling & trades issues Ergo Advocate Program Upgrade Ergo Database – useful, user-friendly Improve E-Buy / E-Pro procurement process; supplement with Ergo Product Catalog Upgrade Ergonomics Training Programs Coordination w/ CFO, ESD, LSD, MSD on proactive approaches, evaluation, and follow-up of ergo issues
Speech Recognition • Contract w/ Zephyr-TEC for training • Online training (IJ) Dragon NaturallySpeaking • Two IT-sponsored training classes on-site • Development of macros for Mozilla T-bird • Issues: • Appropriateness: • Applications used (MS, Mozilla, PeopleSoft) • Noise in environment • Intensive training • Coaching • IT Support/Help Desk
Remedy Interactive • Web-based self-assessment & training • Each employee rated in red, yellow or green zone of ‘risk’ based on combination of discomfort and posture scores • Individual & group data for follow-up • Advice & reminder e-mails to individuals based on self-assessment results & ratings

Ergo Advocate Program • First line of defense and rapid response system • - Be aware of ergonomics situation in the Division • - ID problem postures and implement simple “quick fixes” • - Report complex problems to Safety Coord and/or Ergonomist • Ergonomic Evaluations and Interventions • - Perform “preventive” ergo evaluations or review Remedy results • - Use ergo tools (e.g., Checklists and Ergo Product Catalog) • - Monitor progress of ergo modifications for employees - is it working?

Upgrade Ergo Training Programs • De-emphasize ergo “hardware” and “proper posture” and emphasize a real-world problem-solving approach • Emphasize interactive training and demonstrations vs. lecture (esp. EHS62 - WorkSmart) • Include managing workloads and implementing ergo recommendations • Revise EHS 22 (Ergo for Supervisors) to be more practical & useful • Evaluate web-based alternatives to EHS 60
