Week 4: Analysis and Presentation (1) Recapitulation (2) Statistical Analysis (a) Complete charts and Graphs (b) Analysis with SPSS (3) Presentation: Microsoft PowerPoint
Analysis (1) Graphs (Excel): Plot Test data with X, Y and Z. Plot acquisition data from Stage 1 and Stage 2 Eye-ball the data. Does there seem to be an effect of sex or age? (2) Analysis (SPSS) ANOVA (and then post hoc tests) on test data Analyse data from final trial of stage 1 Analyse data from final trial of stage 2 1-way ANOVA or t-test What sorts of things might influence the magnitude of blocking? - Can you measure these?
Presentation (1) Brief Introduction (5 min) - Background to blocking - Theories - How will you test the theories? - Predictions (2) Method (3 min) - What did you do, and how? - What did you measure? - Link your Methods to your Introduction
Presentation (3) Results (3 min) - What happened? - Be descriptive at first, then analytic. - Describe Experimental stages in order (4) Discussion (5 min) - What do the results mean? - Did they conform to your predictions? - Any surprising results? - Weaknesses/ Further research? Presentation Each group to nominate a chair - Introduces the speakers - Keeps them on time - Initiates applause - HAS A QUESTION
