  3. Ecology… • Ecology- Ecologist study patterns and trends in the environment and collecting information about organisms and their environment. • Ex: study Alligators throughout the year to determine how many tags to issue during hunting season.

Interdependence… • All organisms interact with other organisms in their surroundings and with the nonliving portion of their environment. • Their survival depends on these interactions. • Ex: Humans>Oxygen>Plants • Ex: Soil>Rain>Sun>Butterflies>Squash Plant • Ex: Alligators>Burrows>turtle eggs

Effects of Interdependence • Changes in the environment can spread through the network of interactions and affect organisms that appear far removed from the change. • Ex: Summer> Days are longer> More insects present> Eat while in flight> If it’s cold it can deplete their food source>Martin Birds.
