Example of Main Idea/Purpose • Example: Christmas is the best time of year. People are singing, eating cookies, visiting family and giving gifts. Main idea :Christmas time is good Author’s Purpose: persuade
Definition • Theme is the central idea, concern or purpose for the writing. • Example 1 Tortoise and the Hare : Never Give up/ boasting • Example 2 Little Red Hen: Hard work pays off/ teamwork Non Example: That the story is about a race or about making bread.
