Trojan Triumph Time A Professional Dialogue
OBJECTIVES • By the end of this meeting, we will have: • 3-5 measurable goals for our students during TTT • A plan for measuring student success on these goals • A system for monitoring student progress on these goals • A plan for what we will do in Trojan Triumph Time for the next 2 weeks.
AGENDA • Review Meeting Norms: 2 minutes • Establish Roles: 2 minutes • Review our purpose as a PLC: 4 minutes • Develop TTT Goals: 10 minutes • Determine HOW we will assess goals: 5 minutes • Pre-plan next 2 weeks of TTT: 15 minutes • Wrap-Up and Next Steps: 2 minutes
CODE of COOPERATION • During our meetings we will… • Listen as an ally • Speak from awareness (not opinion) • Suspend certainty • Celebrate diversity • Mind the schedule • If there is anything that you’d like to add, please share it now.
TEAM ROLES (2 min) • The purpose of roles is to help our meeting function more efficiently • The following roles need to be filled… • TIMEKEEPER • PARLIAMENTARIAN (keep us on task) • NOTE-TAKER • In the future, this will be done at the close of the previous meeting.
What is a Professional Learning Community? (4 min) • “PLCs create the processes that create the dialogue that identifies the programs…PLC is a way of doing.” • The Three Big Ideas of a PLC are: • Focus on Learning • Collaborative Culture • Focus on Results
Purpose of a PLC • Teachers in professional learning communities focus on learning by asking: • What do we expect our students to learn? • How will we know when they’ve learned it? • How will we respond when they don’t learn? • How will we respond when they already know it? • “Teaching without learning isn’t teaching at all…it is just presenting.”
“If it’s broke, FIX IT!” Evaluating our Systems
TTT Goals (10 min) • Each of you was asked to add your own goals for Trojan Triumph Time to the shared Google Doc. • The following list was created using the contributions given by this PLT (Professional Learning Team) • If there are any additions to the list, please give them now.
Assessing Success (5 min) • Since our goals are measureable, how will we measure the success of our students? • Our measure for success must be… • Unbiased • Accurate • Uniform • Anything else?? • How will we assess our students in Trojan Triumph Time?
Planning (15 min) • In deciding what activities we will complete during the next 2 weeks, there is one non-negotiable… • ALL ACTIVITIES MUST BE ALIGNED WITH ONE OF THE GOALS THAT WE AGREED UPON. • You will continue to receive ACT Prep lessons from me each week. (there is only one this week due to the ACT Plan Test)
Wrap-Up and Next Steps (2 min) • Assign Roles for Next Meeting • TIME KEEPER • PARLIAMENTARIAN • NOTE TAKER • Action Plan for Next Meeting • Collect sample rubrics that we could modify to assess our student written responses. • Devise a plan for keeping track of TTT Work • Begin brainstorming ways to progress monitor TTT • Note-taker: email meeting notes to the members of our PLT
Monitoring for Success (5 min) • In order to know if we are moving in the right direction, we must progress monitor…if things don’t look right, WE MUST BE WILLING TO CHANGE! • How will we progress monitor Trojan Triumph Time?
