  2. Introduction Neptune was founded by the voyager in august 1989. Neptune was named after the ancient gods. Neptune is the roman god of the seas.

  3. Neptune’s Ancient Name • Neptune is named after ancient mythology. • Neptune Is god of the sea because of its sea blue color. • Neptune is a roman name.

Neptune's Discovery • After the discovery of Uranus astronomers had trouble figuring out its orbits but they could not find any so they figured out that there was another planet farther out from Uranus. • They were right independently, a French astronomer leverrier and English astronomer john coach Adams made the mathematical calculations of were Neptune should be. • A German astronomer Johann Galle observed it.

  5. Neptune's mathematical Discovery • Neptune was not discovered the same as the other planets in our solar system. • Astronomers did not scan the sky with their powerful telescopes to find Neptune they used math instead.

  6. Neptune's moons • Neptune has 13 moons. • Triton is the largest moon, it is the same size as our moon. • The names on the next slide are named in order from biggest to smallest. • Psamathe is the smallest moon.
