Human Rights Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.   Labour Standards Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining; Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour; Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.  Environment Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges; Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.    Anti-Corruption Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

  22. ECOT Partner for Progress • NIDA has been the first academic institution in Thailand joining hands with ECOT to launch UN Global Compact principles and initiatives in 2002. Major activities included seminars and workshops with ECOT, employers, business partners, and civil society to enhance understanding, commitment, and concrete actions of GC principles. • NIDA MBA Program offers its students the knowledge of corporate citizenship and global compact principles as a part of the core course (BA 610). Students have worked on an assigned project of Global Compact companies analyzing significant contributions of the companies to the Principles. • NIDA MBA Program has included Global Compact Principles in many external training programs for public and private companies. Led by Associate Prof. Dr. Maneewan Chat-uthai, ECOT Academic Adviser, has been disseminating the GC concepts to her MBA students and also at the public training courses. Take lead roles in advocating CSR in the bilateral and multilateral level, disseminating and exchanging information on CSR movement and global trading requirements. ECOT initiatives and activities include: Building alliance of good employers; National recognition of ‘Good Employers’ and ‘Good CSR company’; conducting, business dialogues with international and national stakeholders; organizing CSR training and workshop; wired CSR updates; and promoting and administering CSR as trademark of quality throughout the supply chain --‘Supply Chain Purifier’ Multi-stakeholders analysis: Influence and Interaction Business Performance/Activities Forum of advocates and dissemination of CSR good practices NGOs as social partners providing legal advice and assistance to the affected consumers.
