  1. By Liam Arnet. Memories At Hill.

  2. 5 and starting school. • My memory of my first day at school is something I will remember all my life. I felt scared and unsure of what was going to happen. Mrs Mc Donald was my first teacher and she was so nice I soon felt welcome. I enjoyed my time in her classroom. We visited the Auckland Zoo and on the way up we sang “wheels on the bus”. It was a great day out. I learnt a lot in Mrs Mc Donald’s class and made lots of cool friends.

  3. 6 and moving class. • When I was told that I was moving class I felt proud and grown up. I remember the people who I moved up with Jordan Lovegrove, Teaabo Teaabo, Pranka Lata, Mave Lutui. My teacher was Mrs Cronin. I was only in this room for four months. We made big name tags and put them on the wall. We were too young to play rugby and cricket. I loved our athletics day and got a place in my races which made me feel real good. At lunch times I played with Jordan and Teaabo in the sandpit and enjoyed making sand castles. I remember having a mini wheels day and I took my scooter to school.

  4. 7 and in year 2. • This year I was in Mrs.Tod’s class. I was in the square maths group. It was a medium sized class. We went to the Pioneer Historical Village. It was an amazing experience. We learnt a lot about the olden days. We all went up on the bus. We had a survival day at school where we cooked damper on an outside camp fire and had other activities.

  5. 8 and not a nice start to the year • In February 2009 my Great Nana died of cancer. She was staying with us before she died. I was in Mrs Murray’s class. We did a class trip to the Botanic Gardens in Manurewa. I learnt a lot about nature. I was picked to run at Group Day and it was cool to run against chidren from other schools. This year I joined the ICT Club.

  6. 9 and in the rugby team for the school • At last I was old enough to get into the rugby team. I nearly got a try but I got ankle tapped and fell down. I was in Mrs Almond’s class that year. I did a triathlon at Clarks Beach and finished 10th out of 60 kids. I really did enjoy it especially the bike ride. I looked forward to the sausage sizzle days. It was great to have hot sausages for lunch in the winter. I was in Mrs Murray’s ICT Club and learnt a lot about computers and the wikis on the internet.

  7. 10 and moving to Intermediate • I can’t believe I have just turned 11 and it feels like I just started school yesterday. We went to Motat and it was fun. We went into the mirror maze and that was cool too. I had my first ride in a tram. I went to the Barbarians rugby day and we came first. I also played in the caretakers cup and our team won the cup against Bombay. I am a wet day monitor for Mr McDonald’s class. I enjoy looking after younger children. Iam looking forward to going to intermediate school next year.
