Does it cost the AHS more? • yes and no!! • Increases – VMO payments are more than would be paid to long term permanent VMOs • Decreases - locum costs, admin time, workforce instability, accommodation, rooms, infrastructure • Other savings – decreased relative utilisation due to improved primary health care and continuity of service.
