  4. To live on the river, build an Ark House!

But didn’t a house built on stilts just float away in 2002? • Yes, but it wasn’t an Ark House. • The stilts must extend up to the roof. • The Ark House floats, so if the water gets higher than planned, it’s no problem! • Properly designed, an Ark House should withstand a flood! And that saves money!

  6. But aren’t they too expensive? • Ark Houses typically add $12,000 to the cost of a house • However, this is much less expensive than replacing a flooded house. • And consider the savings in psychological stress!
