Intro…. • First Shelter of Salaam Baalak Trust Opened in 1992. • Earlier known as Night Shelter the as Aasra and now know as “SBT shelter home. • Aasra was running under Women’s and Children’s Institution Act 1956 • SBT Shelter Home is running under section 66 of Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act 2000 from March 2004.

  3. Age group: Shelter for the boys of 8-18 years Objective: to provide all basic physical, mental and social needs and restore child to his family through any possible source.

  4. Programs & Activities • 24 hrs shelter • Nutrition • Medical • Counseling • Repatriation • Follow up • Education • Recreation • MHP

  5. The shelter • Total capacity : 50 maximum Provision to provide food, sleeping mattress, blanket, hygienic material, medical facility and television like homely things Registration

  15. Challenges • Water Crisis • Excess number of children are staying – referred by CWC (65 – 70 children) • Special Cases as Physically & Mentally challenged children • Crisis of Staff • Counselor as per CWC need

  16. Achievement • Restore 183 children out of 317 children • Annual tour to Dehradun and Massurie • Local tour in every week • Good rapport with the community • 2 children transferred to Apna Ghar • Giving family environment to children so that they don’t feel it as jail.
