The flag • The Red Represents The blood spilt to maintain Thailand’s independence. • The white represents purity and Buddhism. • Blue is Thailand’s National colour and represents the Thai monarchy. • In 1916 the flag was changed to show a white elephant in royal regalia.
Historical facts • In July 1917 Thailand joined World War I on the allied side. • In 1942 Thailand joined the UN. • Between the 9th century and the 13th century Thailand was ruled by the Khmers, people from present – day Cambodia. • Thais are thoughtto have come from southern China, and moved to Thailand between the 10th and the 13th century.
Location • Southeastern Asia, bordering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.
Greetings (The Wai) • The Wai originated from an ancient greeting that was done to show neither Individual had any weapons. • The Wai is preformed with a slight bow, with Both your hands pclappedtogether in a prayer-like shape. The Wai has been adapted by lots of wetern things
Rules of Thai culture • It Is thought to be rude to touch people on the head or feet. • You should never show your soles of the feetfor it is thought to be the dirtiest part of the body. • You should never put your elbows on table. • You shouldnot shout. • You should take off your shoes when in a house if your hostess is not. • You are not allowed to use knifes to eat. • It is sometimes thought to be rude to accept gifts. • You should never point at people.

Thai Cuisine • A popular desert is Sticky Rice with Mango. • The spiciness of Thai cuisine is very well known to others. Thai food is known for its fundamental tastes in each dish or the whole meal. They are: • Sour • Sweet • Salty • Bitter.
Songkran • During Songkran the thai people soak each other with water. • The reason they do this is because the water is supposed to be a symbol of washing all of the bad in away. • The Songkran starts in April and it is their traditional New Year because Thai people believe that Buddha was born before God therefore they believe that it is the future right now so in Thailand they believe that itis2554.
Baht • 1 Thai Baht is equal to 0.0418555636 (Singapore dollars) • Baht is theofficial currency of Thailand. • The Baht rate is always changing.
