  2. Why does disposing of rubbish in the right way, matter? • All rubbish travels across the land and then down streams and rivers when it rains and then to the ocean • Plastic just breaks down into smaller pieces This is Kaikorai Stream near the Sea

  3. Plastic Gathers in the Oceans Some people surf and swim in it

  4. It is eaten by animals Some mistake plastic pieces for food and then die from starvation This is a picture of a dead bird with what was in its stomach

  5. What Can You DO • Take responsibility to walk to and put your rubbish in the bins at our school • Pick up rubbish and put it in a bin – even if it is not yours • Buy less plastic containers and wrapping • Recycle whatever you can

  6. NO POWER DAY • This started two years ago and is a student led idea • Trying to raise awareness about saving resources – in this case energy. • Mufti day has raised $750 last year to promote energy efficiency in school • This years date to be advised – watch this space!
