Theta IP Shaft bolt change – M10 bolt results with GDI sprocket • MD proposed 30Nm + 20deg (+/-2deg) for M10 bolt change as a potential production joint. • Target clamp load of 46kN looks to be acceptable for the bolt strength as 85% of yield strength. • Peak torque of 64.2Nm will give us a safety factor of 1.5 compared to maximum torque observed of 42Nm. 7
Input Shaft Clearance increase Theta input shaft clearance study • MD found input shaft journal growth by 7~8㎛ after the bolt joint. Actually this was reported to HMC in the early of the development. • From this reason, MD has done the clearance study in order to compensate the OD increase. • Current clearance of input shaft • - Front JNL : 0.020 ~ 0.056 • - Rear JNL : 0.012 ~ 0.052 • New clearance with smaller journals • - Front JNL : 0.030 ~ 0.066 • - Rear JNL : 0.022 ~ 0.062 • The new clearance should be verified through some feasibility tests. 8
