Homework Requirements • Approximately 45-minutes nightly • Monday – Thursday (occasionally Friday) • Assignments include: • Math (nightly) • Reading (nightly) • Spanish (once a week) • Other – Spelling, Writing, Projects (occasionally)
Homework Folder Items • Weekly Homework Letter (until September) • Handouts • Change of Transportation forms • Occasional teacher notes to parents Note: Please empty your child’s folder every night. They should only return the following: homework sheet, homework, reading log, parent notes and change of transportation (if applicable).
Standards-Based Reporting • ECA uses a Standards-based reporting system. This is a different way of reporting grades than the traditional A, B, C, D, F scale. ECA uses a 1-4 scale. • 4 – Above Standard • 3 – At Standard • 2 – Approaching Standard • 1 – Below Standard • Students are assessed on how well they have met the individual standards. • Students will not be given one grade for reading, one grade for writing, one grade for math, etc. • On the report card, you will see standards underneath each subject. Your child will only be graded on the standards that were taught that quarter. Therefore, not all the standards will have grades by them.

PTA Community Service Project • What is the Project? • Collecting school supplies for 50 orphans from the Jose Gregorio and ASOPROGAR Orphanages here in Caracas • What do you need to do? • 4th grade students need to bring in 1-lined notepad and 1-lined notebook to their homeroom class.
