Closing Remarks Tomo Usuda SAC Chair October 17, 2013
Establish and maintain the top-level science requirements of the observatory. • Develop and maintain a scientific strategic plan. This plan will identify and describe key TMT scientific capabilities. • Advise the Board on the selection of capabilities, including adaptive optics, for further study and ultimately on the selection of instruments and adaptive optics systems to be built. • Act as a liaison with the TMT partner communities regarding science requirements, prioritization of capabilities and operations modes. Work to engage and inform the communities about the capabilities and scientific potential of the observatory. SAC’s Roles (parts)
TMT SAC’s roles (parts): • Establish and maintain the top-level science requirements of the observatory. Closing Remarks Very nice opportunities to explain what kind of sciences and science instruments Japanese communities are interested. Important to keep such activities.
1st TMT Forum in 2013 @Waikoloa • International Science Development Team (ISDT)* launched • Call for membership open to all PhD scientists scheduled on late January 2014. schedule delayed *) ISDTs have been established to foster scientific collaboration across the TMT partnership and beyond, into the broader astronomical community. The ISDTs will provide scientific input and feedback to the TMT project, stimulate scientific planning for future observing programs using TMT, and help build connections between TMT and the international astronomical community.
