Early Life • Father owned car dealerships and mother was a teacher. • His Mother was the one who got him interested in sports particularly baseball. • Grew up a fan of the Cubs and minor league Milwaukee Brewers • Huge Fan of Braves once they came to Milwaukee.
Getting Milwaukee a Team • Soon after Bud made a name for himself in his fathers business he bought stock in the Braves. • Became crushed when the Braves left for Atlanta and sold all of his stock • Began to find a way to get pro baseball back to Milwaukee and started “Teams inc.” dedicated to finding a team to replace the Braves • Bought the Seattle Pilots and brought the club to Milwaukee
Being a Owner / Commissioner • Within 5 years the Brewers had won the American League and won back to back organization of the year. • Soon other owners decided it was time to replace the current commissioner and in 1992 Bud was elected acting Commissioner • Had to end his ownership of the Brewers due to conflicts of interest but kept it in the family with his daughter.
