  4. Once, Pilate brought in standards or shields with images of Caesar on them. The Jews regarded these as idolatrous graven images. Another time, Pilate used Temple funds (given to him by Jewish leaders) to build an aqueduct into Jerusalem. Because Pilate had upset the Jews these two times, Caesar warned Pilate not to violate Jewish laws again and to be sensitive the religious rules of peoples he was governing.
