Lessons From Jonah, Chapter 1 • National sin demands national repentance! Just as this applied to Nineveh, so it applies to the nations of today. • "These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren" (Proverbs 6:16-19).
Lessons From Jonah, Chapter 1 • One cannot hide from God! • “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.9If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, "Surely the darkness shall fall on me," Even the night shall be light about me;” - Psalms 139:7-11 (NKJV)

What we have learned… • We may very well be openly chastised in this life if we rebel against God • God was not only concerned with the nation of Israel in the O.T. • He desires that all men everywhere repent! • God demands national repentance! • No one can run away from God… • Nor can one shun his/her responsibilities in serving the Lord according to His terms. • The Lord offers salvation to those who would turn to Him and earnestly do His will.
