  4. The golden experience We set off on our camp in may, We Had a fun stop on the way. The maze was a challenge for some, While others tried to get a hole in one. We arrived later at our cabin park, The kids aren’t allowed out of cabins after dark. The next day was a big thrill, We finally got to sovereign hill. How many times did we walk up and down, The very steep hill in this gold rush town. We panned for gold, no-one got rich, The ingot ‘gold pour’ went without a hitch. Next on the train, down the gold mine, We saw the quartz and the gold shine. We all agreed with total certainty, Working on the coal face, not the place to be. How hard life was for those gold miners, They definitely weren’t whingers and whiners.

  5. Was our day over? A definite no! Back to sovereign hill for the night show. Ballarat is freezing day and night, We saw ‘the blood on the southern cross’ fight.’ Was the cold worth it? I hear you scorn, It was great, scarves and hats were worn. return to our cabins for the last time, We are leaving the sovereign hill gold mine. Next morning packed and ready to leave, The 3 days have gone quick, hard to believe. Time to hit the last golf ball. Now we are leaving, the rain starts to fall. On the coach, to school and kilmore, A few people sleeping, hear them snore. I think we should ask the 5/6’s to bet, Maybe sovereign hill was our best camp yet!
