What is the IP Placement? • Partnership between St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, Queen's University and QUIPPED • Queen’s University Inter-Professional Patient-Centred Education Direction (QUIPPED) • tutorials • inter-professional shadowing • patient-centred learning • final group project
Who are the participants? • 4 tutorial leaders from Queen’s University • 7 students • social work • occupational therapy • practical nursing • medicine • theology • psychology
Goals of the Placement • Increase understanding of scopes of practice of other disciplines • Learn about the collaborative nature of professional practice • Use group process in inter-professional decision-making • Improve critical analysis and communication skills • Enhance understanding of role and experience of patient/client
Tutorials • 4 weekly tutorial sessions with reflective journaling • Tutorials focused on: • temperaments and teamwork • client-centred perspective • ethics and decision-making • inter-professional collaborative care • communication and conflict resolution
