  1. A real success storyofAKBAR TEA The family history of the Akbarallys in Sri Lanka dates back to 1864, with the arrival of Shaikh Hebtulabhoy in Sri Lanka.His son, Tyeabally Shaikh Hebtulabhoy, was the first in the family to enter the tea trade, forming the company Hebtulabhoys’.

  2. Three brothers, Abbas, Abid and Inayet, grandsons of Tyeabally Shaikh Hebtulabhoy, decided to relinquish their positions in Hebtulabhoys and venture out into a business of their own. During the years they were with Hebtulabhoys they had gathered a wealth of experience and business acumen in various fields of trade and commerce. With firm conviction and ambition theyformed Akbar Brothers. inWithin three years Akbar Brothershad made significant market breakthroughs in Iran, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Yemen and Syria. We subsequently expanded ourmarkets to include Turkey, the CIS countries, several Europeannations, Australia and the Far East. With firm conviction and ambition theyformed Akbar Brothers in 1969.

  3. incorporated as Akbar Brothers Limited in1972. In the same year the father of the founders, Akbarally Tyeabally joined his sons in the business, bringing with him 40 years of experience in the highest echelons of the tea trade.
