Rationale • Drawbacks of present system of teaching at DIET in social science • No focus on understanding, analyzing, cause-effect relationship • Focus on summative evaluation-not engaging learners continuously • Gap between theory and field situation • Little scope for reflection – leading to memorising

  7. Objectives: Student-teachers will be able to: • Develop knowledge of content and methods of teaching social science • Enhance skills of teaching social science in constructivist approach

Actions: • Selection of sample students and construction of tools • Development of strategies/plan and pre-test • Actual classroom transaction for student-teachers -techniques of transaction(Group work, group discussion- presentation, project work, school visit) -continuous assessment of student-teachers(obs. sch) 4. Demonstration lesson 5. Planning by the student-teacher 6.Lesson transaction by student-teachers at school(pre and post conference) 7.Post-test of the student-teachers

  9. Evaluation Plan • Pre-test and post test score will be compared to know the effectiveness of the intervention. • Pre and post observation of the classes taken by the student-teachers to assess development of skills. • The information collected in the two events through rubrics will be compared.
