Review of Background • Electrophotographic Printing (EP) test rig originally from Kodak • P09503 modified for improved usability and automation • LabView controls implemented for automation • Has station for major steps:Charging, Exposure, Toner, TransferFusing occurs on a different rig • Exposure step is performed with a negative. Cannot print file from computer. • Our Problem: Test pattern cannot be specified from computer
Constraints 1) Can ONLY modify the exposure step of the current rig. Has to fit into current rig: ~15"wide x 10" x 12" high space but more, non-rectangular, space is available & can be measured does not adversely affect other stations 2) Potential safety hazards must be clearly visible, marked, and avoidable
Deliverables 1) Functioning exposure setup integrated into current rig. 2) Senior design paper detailing design process. 3) Manual with instructions for safety, use, and maintenance.
Concepts • LED Bar -An array of tiny LEDs is individually turned on and off to apply the light -Harvest from printer • LASER Head -Laser is directed by a reflector of some sort while turned on and off very quickly -Harvest from printer • Digital Micromirrors -Commonly used in projectors -Build custom head Image from Reference 5 Image from Reference 2 Image from Reference 3
Suggested Staffing *The overall program will have to somehow interface with the existing LabVIEW program. This may be as simple as having it call another program to print or the entire program may be in LabVIEW. Total should be 3 or 4 people.
