  6. “Thomas, you are sad because one lonely old lady took your room and you didn’t think of people all over the world who are hungry and have no houses to live in. Do you want me to tell her to get out of the house?” Thomas likes his life with Grandfather, Ringo, the cat, and Ivan, the duck, in their small house near the beach. They enjoy gardening, collecting shels, playing games, and listening to baseball on the radio. One day Thomas’s Aunt Linzy, writes that she is coming to stay with them for a while. When she arrives, she takes Thomas's room! 10 1

  7. One evening Aunt Linzy went to visit her neighbor, and Thomas was sitting with Grandfather. Grandfather said, “Your aunt is always happy even when she is tired. Let’s try to be like her.” “She should be sad because she is living with people who don’t want her at their house.” Thomas said. Next morning, Aunt Linzy came into the kitchen smiling. “I slept like a baby because I was very tired. Thomas! Your cat is so lovely! He was sleeping next to my bed the whole night!” Thomas felt very bad. He went to his friend Donny to tell him about his problem. 9 2

  8. Aunt Linzy made lots of changes in the house. She was always cleaning, she made curtains to the windows, she put mats inside the doors. She asked, once, if they can take off their shoes before coming in the house, but Grandfather didn’t like the idea. She was a good cook, too. Aunt Linzy took Thomas’s room to put her things and to sleep there. Also, she cleaned all the house, and put all the games that they were playing everyday into boxes. One day Grandfather saw her taking the shells from the shelves to put them in boxes, too. 8 3

  9. “Why are you doing this?” Grandfather asked irritably. “I want to keep your things in a safe place. And I need more space for my things because there is no enough space in my room.” Aunt Linzy answered. One day Aunt Linzy came into the living room and started talking about baseball with them because she was lonely and wanted to find something to talk about. But Grandfather told her not to do that because baseball isn’t her sport and she didn’t like the game. Aunt Linzy had different pastimes. 7 4

  10. Donny said: “I noticed that the animals-Ringo and Ivan- like your aunt but you and Grandfather don’t, and also you want her to leave the house!” One day Thomas told Donny that she is going to tutor him in math when school starts. So she is going to stay until that time. “ She took my room, my cat, and the house will be her house soon!” Thomas said glumly. 6 5
