Allah tells us to make du’aa to Him • “Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret…” [al-A’raaf 7:55]. • “And your Lord said: ‘Invoke Me (and ask Me for anything), I will respond to your invocation. Verily! Those who scorn My worship [i.e., do not invoke Me and do not believe in My Oneness], they will surely enter Hell in humiliation!” [Ghaafir 40:60].
“And who is more astray than one who calls (invokes) besides Allaah, such as will not answer him until the Day of Resurrection, and who are (even) unaware of their calls (invocations) to them? And when mankind are gathered (one the Day of Resurrection), they (false deities) will become enemies for them and will deny their worshipping.” [al-Ahqaaf 46:5-6]
“ And whoever invokes (or worships) besides Allaah, any other god, of whom he has no proof, then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely, al-kaafiroon will not be successful.” [al-Mu’minoon 23:117].
Ahadeeth on forbiddance of grave worship • “Beware of those who preceded you and used to take the graves of their prophets and righteous men as places of worship, but you must not take graves as mosques; I forbid you to do that.” (Sahih Muslim) • “May Allah’s curse be on the Jews for they built the places of worship at the graves of their Prophets.” (SahihBukhari) • “May Allah curse the Jews and Christians for they built the places of worship at the graves of their Prophets.” (SahihBukhari)
“If any religious man dies amongst those people they would build a place of worship at his grave and make these pictures in it. They will be the worst creature in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Bukhari)“Do not sit on the graves and do not pray facing towards them.” (Sahih Bukhari)
First time in human history that people commited the sin of idol-worship was around the time of Prophet Nuh عليه السلام
“And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright [al-Baqarah 2:186]
Is not He (better than your gods) Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls Him, and Who removes the evil, and makes you inheritors of the earth, generations after generations. Is there any ilâh (god) with Allâh? Little is that you remember!
