  4. The juxtaposition of Estella’s abandonment from her criminal parents and her sophistication of a young lady in society in “Great Expectations” Romeo, who is love-sick, and Tybalt, who is fiery mad in Romeo and Juliet. The juxtaposition of Ralph who represents civility, and Jack who represents savagery in “Lord of the Flies” Literary Examples

  5. Analysis 1 • Dicken’s purpose of writing this juxtaposition is to show the contrasting of how a young woman can learn from the mistakes of her parents and how she can turn out to be sophisticated depending on the society that she grows up in. • The juxtaposition is contrasting a young sophisticated woman that was raised and had criminal parents.

  6. Analysis 2 • Shakespeare’s purpose of using a juxtaposition with Romeo and Tybalt is to cause tension throughout the play, and through the audience. • The juxtaposition supports his purpose by contrasting the love-sick Romeo with furious Tybalt and showing how when one man is angry another man may be in love and not want have anything to do with him unless he does something hurtful, like killing Mercutio.

  7. Analysis 3 • These two characters are juxtaposed to show the difference of leaders and how civility and savagery in just one leader can cause the whole nation to become that way and contrasts them at how different they are. • It is used to show how lack of civilization brought out the savage inside Jack when before he was a good choir leader. • Golding had brought out man’s evil nature.
