About an American Presidental election • Holding=once in four years ◆To run?◆ • More than 35 years old • An American of American birth • Living in U.S.A. for 14 years (By the way, Franklin Roosevelt was reelected four times) ▲Election is long race. It takes a year!!
The stream of a year • February---June/Primary election • July---August/the National Convention • November/Popular vote • In the middle of December/Each state choose an candidate. • Next January/Count the votes. *The right to vote is not provided unless you do qualified voter registration.
A Day of the President • The president thinking with need by oneself in working hours. • The first work of morning of president is hearing a report of gleanings from all over the world. • A schedule of work of the president is full until the night and 60% of a day is occupied by meetings.
A day with the president Bush • am 5:00 He gets up 6:00 a telephone from Rice aide 7:30 he hold meetings with vice president all the time. ☆President Bush seems to do weight lifting for health maintenance.
About the White House ◇Why does people call the building “White House”?◇ This building built in 1800. After 10 years, American made war on British and the mass of Executive Mansion was burn down. American government spent a lot of money for war, so they couldn’t prepare cost for repairing it. Therefore, they varnished scorch. It was repair after that but white had a good reputation, so they left in it. This is why people call the building “White House”

How Bush and Laura got to know each other • In summer 1977, at supper party held in their friend’s house, Bush and Laura met. When their met, Laura was a librarian in elementary school of Austin. Their friends weren’t sure that they could do well. Though their character were opposite, they fell in love with each other, and they got married three months after their first met.
