Psychotria Poeppigiana(Hotlips Flower) • It is a member of Rubiaceae, otherwise known as the coffee family. • They are commonly found throughout the entire rainforest. They are native from Central Mexico and throughout South America. • These plants are used by humans. It can serve as a painkiller to treat headaches, sprains, etc.
Alibertia Edulis(Marmelada) • The leaves can grow up to 25 centimeters long, and 10 centimeters wide. The small tree itself can grow up 8meters tall. • The fruit that this tree bears is yellow. It is the same size and shape of a pomegranate. Seeds sprout quickly after 1-2 months if taken directly from the fruit itself. • They can produce fruit twice a year. A five year old tree can produce as many as 80 fruits.
Bauhinia Forficata • They have small thorns on their branches and thorns. • Can grow up to 20 feet tall. • Used as a herbal medicine to help balance blood sugar levels. • Produces large white drooping leaves. And brown seed pods.
Brunfelsia Manaca • This plant could be considered both a shrub and a tree. • Highly fragrant yellow-white flowers. • It can be found in Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela • They use this plant to help fevers, snakebite, yellow fever etc. although too much will be toxic or poisonous.
Erucharis Grandiflora • Very Fragrant. • The flowers are white and star shaped. • Usually come in clusters of about 5 or 6. • They can be grown indoors and outdoors.
Otacanthus Caeruleus • This plant has shades of purple flowers. • It can grow up to 4 feet tall. • The flowers have a one inch floral tube. • They also have a minty pine scent.
Stigmaphyllon Ciliatum • The flower on this plant is yellow. • They are usually between 8 and feet 15 when they are fully grown. • It is nicknamed the butterfly vine.
Borojoa Patinoi • Varies in size from 3meters to 5meters. • The fruit is about 12 centimeters in length and can also have from 90-640 seeds inside one fruit. It is used in jam, wine, desserts, and medications.
Eugenia Stiptata • This plant is normally 3-15 meters tall. • It is Native to Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. • It can have as many as 20 seeds in side of a ten centimeter fruit. • The fruit turns from green to yellow as it ripens.
Drimys Winteri (Winter’s Bark) • A skinny tree that can grow up to 65 feet tall. • The flower is white and the center is yellow. • The plant bears fruit that is a blue in color. • It can withstand temperatures of -4 degrees fahrenheit.
