  1. Characterization BY: Hunter, Garrett, Cheyenne

  2. Ralph Ralph leaned against a tree and at once the daydreams came swarming up. (7, 112) Ralph talked on excitedly. “I hit him alright.” (7,113) Ralph entered into the play and everybody laughed. (7, 114) Ralph ignored Jack’s question. (8,125) Ralph rose obediently, and Piggy, and they went to the platform. “Talk,” said Ralph bitterly, “talk, talk, talk.” (8,125)

  3. Ralph (Continued) “All this talk!” shouted Ralph. (…) “Who called this meeting?” (8, 126) “Bathing,” said Ralph, “that’s the only thing to do.” (9, 147) “Let them go,” said Ralph, uneasily, “I don’t care.” (9,148) Ralph took an uncertain step, pointed to a palm tree, and whispered something inaudible to Piggy. (9, 149)

  4. Simon Simon shook his head violently till the coarse black hair flew backwards and forwards across his face. (7, 111) “You’ll get back to where you came from.” Simon nodded as he spoke. (7, 111) Simon pushed his way to Ralph’s elbow. “I’ll go if you like. I don’t mind honestly.” (7, 117) Simon had passed through the area of fruit trees but today the littluns had to busy with the fire on the beach… (8, 132) Simon moved his swollen tongue but said nothing. (8, 143)

  5. Simon (Continued) Simon’s mouth labored, brought forth audible words. “Pig’s head on a stick.” (8, 143) With the running of blood Simon’s fit passed into the weariness of sleep. (9, 145) Simon spoke allowed to the clearing. “What else is there to do?” (9, 145) Softly surrounded by a fringe of inquisitive bright creatures, itself a silver shape beneath the stead fast constellations, Simon’s dead body floated out to see. (9, 154)

  6. Jack They set off again, the hunters bunched a little by fear of the mentioned beast, while Jack quested ahead. (7, 112) Jack was in charge of the hunt and there would be time to get to the mountain. (7, 112) Now they came, unexpectedly, to an open space by the sea. Jack cast about on the bare rock and looked anxious. (7, 113) Jack looked at the sand. “Now what about my hunters?”(8, 124) Jack got to his feet. His face was red as he marched away. (8, 125)

  7. Jack (Continued) Jack interrupted him. “I called it.” (8, 125) Jack stood up and waved his spear. “Take them some meat.” (9, 149) Jack waved his spear again. “Has everybody eaten as much as they want?” (9, 149) Jack spoke. “Give me a drink.” (9, 150)

  8. Piggy “We mustn’t let anything happen to Piggy, must we?” (7, 117) “Someone’s got to go across the island and tell Piggy that we’ll be back after dark.” (7, 117) Piggy looked up miserably from the dawn-pale beach to the dark mountain. (8, 124) Piggy was speaking now with more assurance and with what, if the circumstances had not been so serious, the others would have recognized as pleasure. (8, 129) Piggy lifted the conch as though to add powers to his words. (8, 129)

  9. Piggy (Continued) Only Piggy could have the intellectual daring to move the fire from the mountain. (8, 129) “Mind my specs,” said Piggy. “If I get water on the glass I got to get out and clean ‘em.” (9, 147) “Stop it!” he shouted. “D’ you hear?” (9, 147) “I got a pain in my head. I wish the air was cooler.” “I wish the rain would come. I wish we could go home.” (9, 147-148)

  10. Others The twins nodded like one boy. (7, 115)- The Twins Roger called from the coverts. “Come and see!”- Roger (7, 111) Roger spoke; they had jumped, for they had forgotten him. “The frog.” (7, 121)- Roger “Kill the pig! Cut his Throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in!”- All (7, 114) “Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!” (9, 152)
