  1. music Elizabethan Music was a major form of entertainment.

  2. But the most popular combination of Elizabethan musical instruments would become known as an 'English Consort'. This combination of Elizabethan musical instruments initially consisted of 4 musical instruments. This quartet comprised of: • Violin,Viol,Lute,flute

  3. The Tambourine - A small drum consisting of a circular frame with a skin stretched over it and several pairs of metal jingles attached to the frame, played by striking with the knuckles or shaking

  4. String instruments were either plucked or bowed.

  5. The Elizabethan musicians enjoyed experimenting with various combinations of musical instruments.

  6. The Harpsichord - The strings are made to vibrate by being plucked

  7. The Psaltery - The Psaltery was a cross between a harp and a guitar

  8. Chittarone - a lute which could reach 6 feet tall

  9. The Spinet - a small and compactly built upright piano which generates sound by plucking a string rather than striking one

  10. TheLizard - An s-shaped horn
