  1. The team evaluated BU and took ten months to prepare Post Visit Report. The report consisted of following strong & weak points of BU and also put up some suggestion for improvement. INSTITUTIONAL PERFORMANCE EVALUATION (IPE) REPORT

  2. The team admired BU as the youngest and the fast growing university of Pakistan. The report pointed out, that, there was a widespread sense of pride being a part of BU. Despite its youth, a distinct BU culture had already started emerging and was clearly visible in the students, faculty and administrative staff. • The BU is self sufficient in generating revenue from its own sources for which it has a transparent system of funds utilization. • The induction, promotion and faculty development processes at BU as per the HEC criteria were appreciated by the team. • They also mentioned the team work and open door policy in practice under the guidance of the Rector. • Making a note on faculty handbooks/dockets, they opined that these were as per the HEC guidelines and the curricula were at par with good universities of the world. • The students academic & counseling affairs were being handled adequately. Extracurricular activities and other facilities were satisfactory. STRONG AREAS

  3. Low frequency of meeting of the statutory bodies • Less role of faculty and students in governance and decision making. • Absence of evaluation process of lower staff. • Shortage of permanent and PhD staff. • Absence of strategic plan. • Insufficient trainings of HODs on academic management and decision making. • Insufficient professional development programs for faculty. • Less Publication and Research WEAK AREAS

  4. Strategic planning process should be initiated. • Academic audit for affiliated institutions of BU may be initiated. • A formal system may be incorporated for involving the senior faculty in resource utilization. • An awareness campaign may be undertaken to make maximum utilization of library resources. • Necessary training for faculty on writing of a good syllabus / course outline. • The employer and alumni surveys should be used to ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of the market place. • The Relative Marking System as recommended by PEC for implementation in the engineering programmes may be adopted. • The University should update / revise the financial rules and procedures to bring them inline with the rapid expansion of the University. The University should look into the possibility for involving experts from within the Management Science Deptt; or outside the University in case such in-house expertise is not available. SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT
