Progress over 60AM and 60PM Student ambassador bus greeters have been trained. The script they were given can be also used during your lab activities during the showcase events. We are putting together a tour plan/script and training for anyone guiding a tour. We will share the times/dates of those training events for student ambassadors interested in giving tours. separate showcase cards have been developed (6) ~First tours begin on November 19~
Tour Structure The Ideal number of students in agroup is 10 but prepare for 15-20 The Goal is to let instructors know the week before the scheduled tour(s) WHEN THEY will be scheduled While the goal is to have students in your lab for 10 minutes, be prepared for activities to be 5-10 minutes
Showcase Cards Continued Showcase Guides will be given a card and an order to visit your lab. They will introduce you as “The Expert” in your field. • After the Guide introduces you, please be sure to do the following: • Keep the attendees standing during their time in your lab • Please share 2 general tasks students complete in your lab
After the Introduction Students attending should be shown or, ideally, participate in a short demonstration conducted by your student ambassadors (more than one is ideal with different career goals is Preferred (military, college, workforce) During the time the demo/activity is going on, Your student ambassadors should share their own personal career goals and why they chose your lab. (Trained Ambassadors have their scripts they can use as a guide as to what to say).***Please be sure they are positive, upbeat, and dressed professionally. Again, prepare for 5-10 minutes & 10-20 Attendees with 6 visits per tour day
Final Items This program is new to all of us, so we may be making changes as we go. We will regroup again after the November tours to debrief and review the progress and structure
