What is the CalTPA?. The California Teacher Performance Assessment (CalTPA) is the assessment used by the CA Commission for teacher credentialing (CCTC) to determine candidates' qualifications for teaching credentials.All candidates must pass all four (4) assessment Tasks to qualify for a teaching

1. SUBJECT SPECIFIC PEDAGOGY
2. What is the CalTPA? The California Teacher Performance Assessment (CalTPA) is the assessment used by the CA Commission for teacher credentialing (CCTC) to determine candidates qualifications for teaching credentials.
All candidates must pass all four (4) assessment Tasks to qualify for a teaching credential. (with a 3 or 4)
Sufficient preparation for the CalTPA assessments is built into the credential program coursework and Clinical Practice.
3. CALENDAR Must follow TPA calendar on COE web site.
Miss a submitted date will have to submit the next semester or pay late fee.
Taskstream closes at midnight.
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE DUE DATE TO SUBMIT
If you miss the deadline you will pay a late fee of $85.00 to resubmit. Form and money turned into Student Services.

5. REMEDIATION Remediation is provided for everyone scoring a 1 or 2. Two remediation's per task.
Results are sent out as assessors finish scoring.

ICP tasks are throughout the program: 3 & 4 during Clinical Practice II
There are 4 tasks:
Task 1: Subject Specific Pedagogy Task
Task 2: Designing Instruction
Task 3: Assessing Learning
Task 4: Culminating Teaching Activity
7. How to prepare for passing each TPA Download the Handbook prior to writing a task.
It will be the TPA seminar Textbook.
CalTPA presentations have been developed outside of class time to guide candidates understanding and successful completion of the CalTPA.
Check the TPA calendar for all updates and important timelines.
Multimedia site provides information for each task and assistance in understanding the questions.

lesson design
assessment
adaptations for an English learner
adaptations for a student with special needs

9. HOW TO ENROLL IN TASKSTREAM DO NOT wait until the day the task is due to enroll as you will not be able to have your task scored.
ENROLL TODAY follow the directions on the COE self enrollment for taskstream.
YOU have to enroll in each task in order to submit the task.
If you do not self enroll you will have to pay the late fee of $85.00.
Make sure your account in Taskstream is current.

11. PREPARE TO WRITE CANDIDATES HANDBOOK
Overview 2-1 to 2-6 gives you valuable information.
Pages 2-4 & 2-5 know the difference between descriptive and analytical writing.
Pages 3-1 to 3-11 provides you the information about Task 1 and helps you understand what is expected.
Keep the rubric in front of you to reference when writing.
Give rationale for decisions and choices.
12. CASE 1: Subject specific and developmentally appropriate pedagogy.
Case Study 1: contextual information.
Case 1: 1. Instruction strategies and student activities.
Case 1 type of writing: 2 a., b., and c.
Instructional strategies and student activities directly related to academic content goals and developmental needs of the students.
Help students progress toward achieving state-adopted content standards & learning outcomes

Understand the type of writing in each section.
B. Questions for case study 2: clearly defined strength and weaknesses. EXPLAIN your answer related to the learning goal.
Additional assessment: read in relation to the learning goals and answer. Follows pattern of Assessment plan. CASE 2: Assessment practices
14. Must UNDERSTAND contextual information.
Read the contextual information and understand what each section means.
Identify the types of questions: Descriptive or Analytical writing and discuss the questions in your group. CASE 3: Adaption of subject-specific pedagogy for English Learners
15. Case Study 4: 3-5
Read the contextual information and understand what this means.
The questions are similar but the answers should not be as there is a big difference in EL and special needs.
Draw from your experiences from 511 and 512. Ask clarification about these questions in your classes.
