  2. Mrs. Barbour Mrs. Barbour pushes her students to be all that they can be. She invites them to use their imagination and apply learning to their own personal needs. Her classroom is loud and warm, and always busy. There is never a dull moment. The students are allowed to stand and dance as much as they please during a lesson as long as they aren’t taking to anyone or walking around and, most importantly, are getting their work done. Even note taking can be an eye-sore on an outsider’s migraine days. Mrs. Wallace Mrs. Wallace is the school’s gifted teacher and often comes in to the classroom or takes students out who are considered gifted.

Gifted Students There are 7 identified gifted students in Room 23 Mrs. Barbour differentiates each student by pre-assessments before all math and social studies units using a pre-test, in science she does stations of various difficulties to define what some students may already know, and in language arts and math they use the ReadAbout and FastMathprogram. There are no special education students this year other than the gifted students

  5. Class Theme Mrs. Barbour ADORES Cows, so Room 23 is covered in cows and cow print. Reading is endorsed heavily throughout the room. “Mum” is the word. We say “mum” before we leave the classroom so the student’s mouths are shut. Our class colors for our tie-dye shirts were purple and green (and so is this PowerPoint.) The students are always joking Mrs. Barbour, and she does the same to them.

  6. Room 23 has a clipboard. On this clip board, you can get a mark. How do you get a mark? You are disruptive, not on task, no homework, and anything that the teacher feels you deserve. Mrs. Barbour and I are pretty easy going when it comes to the clipboard so the kids know, when they get a mark, they need to calm down and shape up real fast. For rewards, we give out tickets. There are always more tickets than marks. We don’t have a discipline problem, at all.

  7. Daily Routine The students come in and soon go to P.E. They come in and do their Math, Science and Word Study Lunch time! Silent reading, Language Arts, and the specialists (Music, Art, or Computer lab) Language Arts Dismissal
