  1. SCT Geometry Optimization Representing a Si-soft group in Japan: • Okayama University • Reisaburo Tanaka, Youji Tomeda • KEK • Youhei Morita, Taka Kondo • Kyoto university of Education • Ryuichi Takashima, Tomoki Kawachi • University of Tsukuba • Kazuhiko Hara, Kensuke Emoto Ryuichi Takashima Kyoto Univ. of Education ATLAS Software week, 13 May 2003

  2. Status of G4/goofy SCT simulation • All G3/NOVA geometries were installed for barrel SCT part. The rapidity dependence of radiation thickness is well reproduced (reported on Mar. 4, 2003). • Working toward more realistic geometries and materials.First goal is to make the “Fine Geometry”. ATLAS Software week, 13 May 2003

  3. Structure of Simulation Programs Present Geant4/goofy simulation GEANT3/NOVA simulation ATLAS Software week, 13 May 2003

  4. “ Fine Geometry “ Engineering Drawings Volume & Material excel tables Geant4 Fine Geometry We are here Geant4 Coarse Geometry Using Geant4 FADS/goofy Web page for this work can be seen at http://atlas.kek.jp/si-soft/geometry.html ATLAS Software week, 13 May 2003

  5. Naming of Volumes for SCT Barrel Module(examples) SCTBBottomChip1,----,6 SCTBBottomCarbobCarbon SCTBTopChip1,----,6 SCTBTopPitchAdaptor SCTBTopCopperPolyimide SCTBTopSensorPair SCTBHybridConnector SCTBBaseboard1,2,3,4,5 SCTBTopCoolendFacing SCTBBottomSensorPair Naming rules - Attach header SCTB for all volumes. - As close as hardware names. - Easy to guess the objects. ATLAS Software week, 13 May 2003

  6. Specifications of the Volumes (examples) These values are taken from the final drawings for production. The positions refer to the center of the SCT barrel module. ATLAS Software week, 13 May 2003

  7. Drawings for Volume Definition (examples) ATLAS Software week, 13 May 2003

  8. Calculation of Material Composition (examples) Material Components Carbon-Carbon: (weight=1.786 g) Carbon 100%, r = 1.90 g/cm3 Parylene-C: (weight=0.081 g) C8H7Cl, r = 1.298 g/cm3 Conductive Adhesive: (weight=0.033 g) Epoxy 29 W%, Silver 71 W% Thermal Adhesive: (weight=0.198 g) Epoxy 69.25 W%, Boron Nitride 30.25W% ATLAS Software week, 13 May 2003

  12. Summary • “ Fine Geometry” work is proceeding in Japan in order to reflect the true/final geometries and materials in the Geant4 simulations. • We have successfully developed a method just for the case of barrel SCT module. • The volumes and materials are named optimal for the Geant4 description. • Please give us your comments/suggestions. • See the working page for more details: http://atlas.kek.jp/si-soft/geometry.html ATLAS Software week, 13 May 2003
