Background • Objective in ILF Strategic Plan: 2008 – 2011 • increase the number of HIV clinical research projects in resource-limited settings that industry is involved with that address the needs of women and children. • Outputs • Defining a research agenda for women in resource-poor countries, CROI 2008 • The role of industry in development of ARV-based prevention technologies for women, AIDS 2008 • Helping define a research agenda for women in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, EECAAC 2008 • Industry and HIV Clinical Research – what is being learned in Africa? Mapping Exercise • Goal: • Strengthen commitments to addressing priority clinical research on women and children • Objectives • Identify which organizations are involved in clinical research in low/middle income countries • Identify current research and outstanding priority research questions/knowledge gaps (state of the art review) • Identify barriers and opportunities for collaboration in addressing research questions • Establish consensus on how to advance this research agenda, including potential role of key stakeholders www.iasociety.org/ilf
