Longer Lunch Period By Student 1 Student 2 Student 3 Student 4
Why? • There is just not enough time to eat at times. Kids sit down most of the time five minutes before the bell. Leaving a couple of minutes to eat. There have been times that students have sat down to eat right when the bell rings to go to the next class. Therefore, they forego eating so they won’t be late for class.

Funding • Possibly a new bell system, if 3 min intervals had to be changed to some other time. (Our bell system runs on 3 min intervals. )
Cons of Longer Lunch Period • Possibly a longer school day. Starting earlier or getting out later. • Could lead to more inappropriate behavior: more bullying, food fights, more use of inappropriate language. • Teachers having less time to teach their class. • Get money to buy a new bell system possibly. • Take time to rearrange schedule for the day.
Positives About Longer Lunch Period • Time to digest your food. • People could have more time to enjoy their lunch and relax a little with their friends before going back to do more work. • Cathy and the rest of the cooks wouldn’t have to be rushed so quickly to get all the students fed in such a short amount of time. They would still work quickly but not as rushed. It would give Cathy more time to feed all the kids.
Our School Day and Year Requirements • Have to have 1,044 hours per school year. 174 days per school year. Multiply 1,044 hours by 174 days to get the total min for our school year and you get 62, 640 min. • We need 360 min a day. • We have 372 min a day.
Our Proposal • We propose to cut 6 min off of Tiger Time, add that 6 min to our lunch period. By doing that we would not have to get a new bell system, and the time we get out of school will stay the same.
New Schedule • Period 1 8:15-9:06 • Period 2 9:09-10:00 • Period 310:03-10:54 • Period 4 10:57-11:48 • 1st Lunch Shift 11:48-12:18 • Period 5 11:51-1:09 • 2nd Lunch Shift 12:39-1:09 • Period 6 1:12-2:03 • Period 7 2:06-3:09
What Cathy Says • Cathy says that it would make our lunch periods a lot longer if she didn’t give us the options on what we want. • Cathy thinks if we could get the first lunch period in the lunch room 5 minutes earlier to get them sat down it would help.
