Process Flow Using AES Developed Software, AES Certified Service Center or AESDirect, USPPI/US Agent (Filer) transmits commodity (SED) shipment information including the booking number for vessel shipments Filer delivers cargo and exemption statement to carrier Once AES accepts the shipment, a confirmation number is assigned Data are processed for validity against edit tables and U.S. Agency requirement files AES rejects the shipment if certain information is invalid or incomplete. These rejections result in fatal errors, and must be corrected before cargo is exported. AES generates warning messages that will not reject the shipment, but must be corrected within four days. Confirmation Number = ITN No SED AES XTN NDR ITN AES XTN Filer transmits ID Number and Shipment Reference Number = XTN.

Interactive Filing • Log onto AESDirect from Desktop • Create a shipment • Submit Shipment to AESDirect with XTN • AESDirect edits shipment Accepts - Sends to AESDirect database for transmission to AES and acceptance message sent to client Rejects - Transmission returned to client with error message to correct and resubmit AESDirect sends accepted transmissions to AES • AES returns confirmation - ITN
