Before sn 8395 sn 8629

movie 1 broke at 68 psi sn 8395 1.383microsec/frm
movie 2 broke at 104 psi sn 8629 2 microsec/frame
Typical R7081 (ta3085 at 13.4 bar (194 psi)) rise ~1.5 ms dome failure Max 250 psi long fall (>100ms) due to readout and reflections sensor at 40 inch
Broke at 104 psi rise ~0.5 ms 155psi sensor at 40 inch
Scaling • Imagine that the PMT actually implodes at 30 psi. and neighbors at distance x inch then • Shock = 155 psi Sqrt(30/104) (40/x)^2 • This could be a problem if shock > 10 psi • x > 115 inch.
Acceleration • For a 10 psi shock lasting 1 ms, we calculate the acceleration and motion. • TubeArea = 200 cm^2, Force = 1380 N, mass = 0.7 kg, lasts for 1 ms only. • Speed = 2 m/sec after 1 ms • motion = 1 mm after 1 ms • One could do a simple test with a dropped weight to test the PMT holder.
