Have good attendance • To be there in both mind and body • To learn when to “back off” • Have a mastery of their skill – something they do very well • Leaders use their technical competence as the launching pad for leading others
Not “fool around” • Focus on the task • Clear focus keeps the enterprise pointed in the right directions and gives followers an unmistakable clear sense of direction
Listen • The leader who listens is one who knows what is going on around him • listening opens the door to genuine communication as well as improved self-direction
Work hard • It demonstrates commitments and workers admire it • Determination can propel a leader forward • Leadership is a balance between the needs of the organisation and the needs of individuals
Be patient when others are learning • Demonstrate respect for others which is integral to creating a sense of trust • Be a team player • In teams we support one an other for the greater good of everyone
Demonstrate a willingness to teach others • Successful leaders are teachers • They show their followers how and provide them with the resources and support to carry out the task
Show leadership skills • An amalgam of many different skills including communicating, delegating, recognizing, empowering • Lead by example
Personal leadership • Acute self confidence backed by conviction and understanding • Knowing where you stand • where you want to go • Be willing to sacrifice to get there
