1. Annual Golf Getaway Palm Coast, Florida The Getaway Gang is heading for the East Coast on our Golf Outing in 2013. It’s time for a little fun in the “Sunshine State”, well known for their beaches, oranges and golf courses. This guarantees to be another outstanding golf outing. Also known as the “Land of Good Living”, we are going to make it the “Land of Good Fun”. This is a package deal that I have set up with the Hammock Beach Resort. It includes three (3) nights lodging at the gorgeous Hammock Beach Resort (4 bedroom suites with ocean view verandas) located right on the beach and two (2) rounds of golf. Reservations will be for Saturday night through Monday night. Golfing is scheduled for Sunday and Monday. Sunday golf will be at the breathtaking Ocean course which includes six holes situated next to the ocean and then a round of golf on Monday at the aesthetically pleasing Conservatory course. Once again, this is a package deal with a set price per person (4 golfers per suite –each golfer having their own bedroom). Your only option will be travel arrangements. A course that was cut out of the Atlantic Coast coastline, this Jack Nicklaus design will give you a golf experience like no other. This 7,201 yard par 72 is the only true oceanfront golf course in the state of Florida which offers you six holes which overlook the Atlantic Ocean. One of its signature holes, the 18th is a par four that stretches 468 yards along the Atlantic coast. Opened in December of 2000, you will find yourself shooting around sparkling lakes, elevated mounds, and cinnamon-colored bunkers which are made of native coquina sand. Golfers of any skill can enjoy this course with its five sets of tee boxes which offer you views forever stretching ocean. In its short lifespan, the Ocean Course at Hammock Beach has already earned the "Top 10 New Courses You Can Play" and the prestigious Silver Medal Resort designation by Golf Magazine. At the Ocean Course at Hammock Beach you will find yourself surrounded by blue ocean, sandy dunes and a natural landscape that will give you the most enjoyable round of golf you have ever played. The Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach is a Tom Watson Signature design. The course offers dramatic elevations and undulating greens not commonly found in Florida. Highlighted by man-made waterfalls, babbling brooks and veneered field stone work, Watson anticipates that this will be one of the top 18-hole golf courses in the state of Florida. The Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach has nearly 76 acres of man-made lakes and three water features. Two Carolina-style creeks wind next to the greens and a large stunning waterfall serves as a natural water treatment system. With six tee boxes at each hole, the furthest playing at 7,746 yards, the course will accommodate all skill levels. 140 bunkers of coquina shell & white bunker sand dot the course. Watson also added three sod-faced bunkers, a nod to his affinity for British links-style golf. The namesake of the Conservatory will be a one-of-a-kind, glass-domed clubhouse. Resembling a turn-of-the-century palace, it will have an interior featuring a British West Indies flair. The clubhouse will have a fine dining restaurant, men’s & ladies locker rooms, a swimming pool, fitness room as well as a full service pro shop.

The Ocean Course A Jack Niclaus Signature Design Place: Hammock Beach Resort Date: Sunday – April (TBD) Course: The Ocean Course Tee Time: 10:00 AM (first group) Location: Palm Coast, Florida Price $130.00 Located just a short drive from St. Augustine and Daytona Beach, Hammock Beach Resort is a full service luxury resort featuring 36 holes of championship golf on the property, designed by - Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson.  The Ocean Course is the shining jewel of the Hammock Beach Resort- and of Northeast Florida, with 8 holes featuring play overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is Florida's first oceanfront course to open since the 1920's, and is set in an upscale environment with its own resort with first class amenities including a beautiful pool area and fitness room.  Lakes, dunes and forested terrain form the framework of this design which has garnered recognition as a "Top 100 You Can Play" by Golf Magazine. Other honors include being named as: "One of the Best New Courses" by Golf Digest, as "a Modern Classic" by Golf Magazine", and as one of the "Top Ten New Courses You Can Play" by Golf Magazine. Ocean views, natural wetlands, coastal dune formations and dense native shrubbery combine to make this a visually stunning golf experience - and one of the best Florida has to offer! The clubhouse opened in 2001 and features a pro shop with golf accessories and logo attire, and an incredible restaurant/lounge and patio with spectacular views of the 18th hole and the Atlantic Ocean.  There also are men's and ladies locker rooms and a spa treatment facility on property. The range and practice green are complimentary for golfing guests, and a short game area with practice bunkers plus chipping and pitching greens are available for use during golf lessons. The conditioning from tee to green is as good as it gets in Florida, and the scenery all along the course will make you appreciate that you are there. At 7,201 yards and with a 147 slope (77.0 course rating), scratch golfers will have all they can handle from the tips. Alternative tees measure 6725 (142 slope), 6371 (135 slope), 5811 (130 slope for men/141 for women), and 5115 yards from the forward tees with a 131 slope. Playing from the middle (blue) tees, the average male golfer will need his best game to score his handicap. The toughest holes are all long par fours on numbers 5, 9, 15 and 18 - with the two finishing holes on the front and back being real attention grabbers. A key to scoring well here rests in your iron play, as the four par threes can net some good scores - and also in your ability to handle the wind.

The Conservation Course A Tom Watson Signature Design Place: Hammock Beach Resort Date: Monday – April (TBD) Course: The Conservatory Course Tee Time: 10:00 AM (first group) Location: Palm Coast, Florida Price $130.00 The Conservatory, a Tom Watson Signature Design, is currently the hardest and longest ranked course in Florida. Unlike the Bear's course—which boasts a fistful of holes that play along the Atlantic—the Conservatory is an inland layout, but what it lacks in coastal drama it makes up for in beauty and challenge. Creeks, waterfalls and white-sand bunkers make for an eye-catching layout. You'll want your digital camera handy at No. 8, a 170-yard par 3 that plunges 10 stories downhill to an island green. The Conservatory hosted a PGA tour event in 2008. The rolling terrain and beautiful landscaping featuring several waterfall features makes this golf experience one of a kind. The Course is comprised of 120 acres of dramatic elevation and undulating greens not commonly found in Florida.  The Conservatory includes nearly 76 acres of man-made lakes and three water features. Two Carolina-style creeks wind their way through the course and a large stunning waterfall serves as a natural water treatment system. Each hole has six tee boxes extending the challenge of avoiding the 140 bunkers of coquina shell & white bunker sand, that dot the course. Watson also added three sod-faced bunkers, a nod to his affinity for British links-style golf.  The course, which is the longest in the state of Florida measuring a robust 7,776 yards from the back tees with a slope of 155, will certainly test your mettle.  The signature hole is No. 8, a picturesque island green. Featuring a tee box at an elevation of approximately 100 feet, the 18th hole offers a breathtaking, panoramic view of almost the entire course. The architects manufactured tremendous groundswell throughout the course with humps and hollows rippling through the fairways, large dunes running parallel to holes and impressively fortified green complexes buffeted by similar conical mounding. Marshes or stone-walled water hazards are in play on every hole. Trees, flowers and decorative grasses adorn the perimeters and some of the cart paths are brick-paved. You will find the un-level lies force you to hit a variety of shots into escalated greens. Ten is a fun, flamboyant par five, and the stretch of par fours from 13 through 16 brings out about all you could ever conceive in terms of shape, construction, bunkering, orientation and length.
