Article l House of Representatives Qualifications • Age : must beat least 25 years old • Residency : must live in the state years you are chosen to represent • Citizenship : must be a citizen for seven years
House of Representatives, continued Elections : held every two years Responsibilities: • Impose and collect taxes • Duties-Borrow money and coin money • Declare war • Establish post office • Regulate commerce • Raise and support the army and navy.
Article I Senate Qualifications • Age: must be at least 30 years old • Residency: must live in the state you are chosen to represent • Citizenship: must be an United citizen for nine years • Elections: held every six years • Two senators from each state
Senate, continued Responsibilities: • Choose their officers • Have the sole power to try all impeachments • When the president of the United States is tried , the chief justice shall preside.
Article II Executive Branch Qualifications: • 35 years old or older • Must be a natural-born U.S. citizen • Must have lived in the United States for fourteen years
Article II How often elections are held • Every four years Responsibilities • To be Commander in Chief of the military • To conduct foreign affairs • To negotiate treaties with other nations • To nominate members of the cabinet, judiciary, etc. • To review and sign or veto bills • To administer the laws of the nation • To issue pardons as he sees fit • To address the Congress from time to time to assess the state of the nation
