  1. Scale Control Made simple

  2. Typical struvite growth Photo taken after pipe was filled with Struv-Free solution half way for 24 hrs.

  3. Challenges of Struvite Control • Essential components of Struvite are generally available in most wastewater. • Struvite forms in digesters, centrate lines, turbulent flow areas, pipes, tanks, valves, centrifuges, etc. • Struvite is very stable and immune to breakdown with strong acids, strong bases, chelant, and oxidizers. • Options for removal have been primarily physical breaking and chipping. Equipment and pipe replacement has been the common and very costly solution.

  4. Struv-Free ST-2520 ST-2520 is a specially formulated product designed to remove ‘struvite’ (magnesium ammonium phosphate) deposits which form in wastewater treatment facilities. ST-2520 is a mild product which is easy to use and safe to apply. With an application ratio of 1.5 – 2 moles of ST-2520 to 1 mole of struvite it has proven to remove deposits in lines and tanks within hours. Furthermore, used in PPM (parts per million) range, ST2520 can inhibit formation of Struvite. ST2520 has proven to be safe on all substrates encountered, including equipment, valves, pipes, seals, etc.

  5. Physical Properties • Type Mildly Acidic Cleaner • Color Light Straw • Density Range 1.22 – 1.26 • Flash Point None • pH Range 3.00 ± 0.5

  6. ST-2520 TestThe following test shows that Struvite can be effectively removed in placewith a safe and efficient cleaning solution. We start with and then proceed to eliminate the Struvite in this experiment (as shown in the following photos) with 1 initial chemical addition and 1 interim chemical addition (to control pH and concentration). This results in taking the Struvite brick from  41 grams to 1 gram within an 8 hour period.

  7. Challenges of Scale in Oilfield • Essential components of well-scale are naturally occurring and also process added. • Scale forms readily and is a persistent issue. • Scale has been treated with strong acids, strong bases, chelant, and oxidizers. These have serious issues for safety and corrode the valuble infrastructure. Equipment and pipe replacement has been the common and very costly solution.

  8. Advantages of Eco-Blast • Safe to apply and use. • Rapidly dissolves well-bore scale, corrosion by products such as rust. • Is not exothermic when applied. • Does not donate chlorides and salts to the effluent. • Safe to the infrastructure including pipes, seals, pumps. • Non hazardous and non-DOT regulated.

  9. Eco-Blast Physical Properties • Type Mildly Acidic Cleaner • Color Clear - Light Straw • Density Range 1.18 – 1.21 • Flash Point None • pH Range 3.0 ± 0.5 • Freeze Point 20° F.

  10. Scaled up Well-Bore Pipe Pipe sample from a well, removed due to total scale fouling
