Problem - Defined • For years the district used the standard, 80-year old technology, salt-based water softeners to prevent scale. • Softeners increased equipment costs for the district. • Increasing maintenance, salt storage costs, and the expense of wasted water from backwashing and regenerating. • Salt-based systems became prohibitively expensive. • Control valves on Softeners required maintenance contracts and monitoring • Salt storage required • Special storage facility (due to the corrosive properties of out gassing) • Recurring monthly expense • Labor to handle storage and fill brine tanks

  4. Problem—Created a Chain Reaction Use of Water Softener Excluded by Independent School District (ISD) At Armstrong Elementary. Excessive Scale Issues in Under 1 Year Damage to Steamers, Water Heaters and Mixing Valves In-Line Point-Of-Use Scale Inhibitors Required Monitoring & Servicing at Great Expense
