Fort Bend, Independent School District Overcomes Destruction of Equipment from Scale Armstrong ElementaryFormerly Quail Valley Elementary Stafford, TXJuly 17, 2008
Problem - Defined • For years the district used the standard, 80-year old technology, salt-based water softeners to prevent scale. • Softeners increased equipment costs for the district. • Increasing maintenance, salt storage costs, and the expense of wasted water from backwashing and regenerating. • Salt-based systems became prohibitively expensive. • Control valves on Softeners required maintenance contracts and monitoring • Salt storage required • Special storage facility (due to the corrosive properties of out gassing) • Recurring monthly expense • Labor to handle storage and fill brine tanks
Problem—Created a Chain Reaction Use of Water Softener Excluded by Independent School District (ISD) At Armstrong Elementary. Excessive Scale Issues in Under 1 Year Damage to Steamers, Water Heaters and Mixing Valves In-Line Point-Of-Use Scale Inhibitors Required Monitoring & Servicing at Great Expense
Watts OneFlow® Scale Control System • Documented, Field-proven superior performance • Less expensive, easier to install • Smaller footprint • Patented Media Lasts for three years • No Salt (no salt storage or labor costs) • No Chemicals • No Maintenance • No Electricity • No Waste Water for Backwashing and Regeneration • ANSI Standard 42, NSF61, 3rd Party Tested & Certified
Watts OneFlow® Scale Control System • Watts OneFlow® Enables Ft. Bend, ISD to: • Provide a scale solution for all facilities • Protect the water heaters • Protect kitchen equipment • Protect plumbing fixtures and piping • Save thousands of dollars in operating expense

Armstrong Elementary – Watts OneFlow® Cornerstone Elementary – Traditional Salt Softener • Results • Protects newly installed components • Reduces existing scale on previously installed equipment • All of This with No Additional Maintenance
Armstrong Elementary – Watts OneFlow® Cornerstone Elementary – Traditional Salt Softener Facilities Construction Department, Ft. Bend Independent School District. After reviewing the results of this final test, the district will use the Watts OneFlow® Technology for future new projects and replacements. OneFlow® provided a sizeable vaster protection against scale buildup vs. salt Softener. OneFlow reduced and extensively de-scaled previous buildup. OneFlow, No salt, no maintenance, no backwashing, no regeneration or no monitoring. Since OneFlow® has been installed, Facilities Crews have not even been back in the mechanical room where the system is located. With Watts OneFlow, No salt purchases, no salt storage, no replacement salt labor, no monitoring and no salt corrosive damage: OneFlow works and is maintenance free. OneFlow® is for any owner looking to have protection against scale buildup with no maintenance, no salt, no wasted water and you only need the replacement of the media every three years.
