  1. The SRI is Important Because: • Your score determines your placement in the READ180 and/or System 44 program. • Your score matches the level you will work in on the software. • Your score will match the level of books you are allowed to read. • Your score helps determine if you are ready to exit the program.

  2. First: Log in to SRI (Use teacher-provided username and password)

  3. Second: Choose Book Interests(This does not determine what types of questions you will have.)

  4. Third: Take a Practice Test • If you race through these questions, the test will KNOW! • Ask for help if you don’t understand the directions to the test. • You need to wear headphones for this portion of the test.

  5. Last: Take the SRI Test! The test should take at least 20 minutes to complete.

  6. When taking the SRI test…. • Try your best and don’t rush! • Use your skips if you are unsure. (You have three SKIPS. They are located in the bottom right hand corner in an orange bar. Skipping does NOT affect your score.) • If this is your second time taking the test, try to beat your last score!

  7. A Reading List will pop up after you finish.Take it home or to the library!

  8. Choosing a Book • Take your SRI score and choose a book with a Lexile that falls in the range of: • 100 below to 50 above your score • Go to www.lexile.com if you need to look up the Lexile of a book

  9. Lexile Scores for Jobs • Look at this next slide to see why reading is so important! • You will see the Lexile requirements for different types of jobs. • Keep in mind, the Lexile of the CA driver’s test is 1,000!!
