  2. Restructuration Issues • Maintain good collaboration with present LHC client groups (mainly MTA, MMS, ACR, ECR) • Rationalize activities inside AB/CO group • HW Installation • Exploitation • Expand Industrial Automation support to AB Equipment groups C.H.Sicard

  3. Activities: Cryo Controls • UNICOS Contract management (GTD,Cegelec) • UNICOSFramework, Integration to CERN Network • UNICOS application development support for: • LHC-ECR (Experiment Cryogenics), LHC-ACR (tunnel) • UNICOS for String2 [04/2003] • UNICOS application development for LHC-ACR cryoplants • ABB Controls (Legacy) • HW & application support for: North Area (COMPASS, NA49, LHC tests), 1.2KW refrigerator, CAST,Coldex [->2005]; Central Liquefier • HW support + application development/maintenance for LHC-ACR: 6KW refrigerator & test facilities LHC Operation[->2005-2006] 18KW refrigerator [->2005-2006] C.H.Sicard

Industrial Controls Supervision • Existing Supervision Projects • String2 (till mid-2003 at the latest) • Magnet Test benches (till 2006) • Older projects?[HTS current leads supervision, QRL test] • Quench Protection System (QPS) Supervision • Porting UNICOS supervision layer to PVSS • PVSS Support for Equipment groups (VAC,...) C.H.Sicard

Magnetcold measurements/tests • Developments for the series tests [2003] : ØFinish existing applications, Test Master (schedule acquisition & test applications), Resource Manager (detect equipment items specifics) ØCustomise and improve applications for all types of cold masses, equipment, and tests : SSS, correctors ØDefine troubleshooting procedures, write user manuals, train MTA technical staff => reliable control and acquisition for series tests • Maintenance in 2004-2006 Ensure troubleshooting for the series test 24h/24, 10.5 months a year • New projects Multipole factory and reference magnets,2nd generation insertion magnets,Long-term developments ?? C.H.Sicard

  6. Magnet series production support • Program Support of equipments for the magnetic measurements of dipoles and quadrupoles in the firms • SW for periodic calibration in firms and at CERN of the measuring moles /magnetic measurements and alignment. • Program Support of the Laser Trackers for alignment tasks & magnetic axis measurements. • Produce user manuals & train the technical staff • Maintain software in firms (able to intervene @ short notice) C.H.Sicard

  7. PLC/Fieldbus [Siemens – Schneider] • Validate/Test PLC-Fieldbus architecture & components • Radiation tolerance, clock synchronisation, integration of non-homogeneous systems, Web-based diagnostics/commissioning • Implement/maintain PLC Applications for Eq Groups • Anticryostat regulation, bench security, motor control • FieldBus Support • Prepare installation, validation, diagnostics (in collaboration wih HW section) • Design components for CERN applications • ACR/IN: FIP agent programming, EtherFIP Gateway, PLC • ICP/QPS: FIP support for new AMC • Promote development methods for all PLC-based projects C.H.Sicard

Other projects • Isolde Rejuvenation with PLCs (F.Locci) • Developments till end 03/2003 • LHC Power Interlock systems (B.Puccio) • 36 controllers, PLC-based • 4 systems operational for Sector Test (03/2005) • LHC Beam Interlock systems (B.Puccio) • 16 units, Base to be defined (VME,PLC,CPCI) • Required for Injection Tests [04/2006] • Can be used forr SPS Interlock [from 09/2003] C.H.Sicard
